"With our careers, we can fill the theatre too"

'Poker de voces'

The actors Daniel Diges, David Ordinas, Gerónimo Rauch and Ignasi Vidal repeat their 'show' of musicals

Four of the protagonists of Los Miserables have became "independent" in order to offer a "scripted concert" in which they are passing through, above all, the themes of the musical theatre. After a successful premiere, Póker de voces will be performed for the second time.

How did the idea to make Póker de voces occurred to you?
Ordinas (O.): Dani had the idea that four of us should make something, and it was decided to make a show with the songs that we have performed in our careers.
Daniel Diges (D.): To the people close to me it seemed as a good idea.
Gerónimo Rauch (R.): We all agreed that we needed to go out of our roles, that the audience gets to know us without the wigs.
Ignasi Vidal (V.): We present ourselves just as we are: if I came up with something, I tell it, and then I sing a song. It’s an atypical concert.
O.: For the people that have followed me in The Beauty and the Beast or for the people that have seen him (Rauch) in Chicago playing a woman it will be interesting to see us loosing ourselves.

What did you need?
V.: We wanted to see how far we can get. So far, we have seen that even with out modest careers we can fill the theater.
R.: We have to be thankful that we are in the musical that sells the most tickets, that has put us in a sort of show-window.
V.: Just in case, as Los Miserables won’t last forever, we are starting to take care of our retirement... (laugh). We are producers of our own show, but we have received the support of Stage and Arteria.
D.: I believe that they were happy to do that, we are all their kids.
R.: Well, kids... we are stupid enough (laughs).
O.: And if we have any doubts, we'll go to Luis Álvarez.

Were you expecting this kind of success?
R.: Not even the slightest idea!
O.: It was a very natural evolution...
D.: ... But when the machine goes without forcing it, it is for something. It’s very emotional and, at the same time, we make our clown-faces. We have things that even we feel embarrassed to do.
R.: As egocentric artists as we who dedicate ourselves to this are, we have the guts to ridicule ourselves, in some cases, as well as in others, to simply sing well, because we have some difficult music scores. There are glorious musical moments, dramatical moments, intimate... We generate climate...
V.: ... And climax (laughs).
O.: Unfortunately, it’s always like this! Thank goodness, we have a good scriptwriter, Zenón Recalde...
V.: Yeah, but you are laughing, right?
